E-CO-CREATE RESIDENCE

AEDC Artist-in-Residence

 About AEDC Artist-in-Residence

AEDC (Associação Educativa para o Desenvolvimento da Criatividade) strives to nurture creativity within educational settings, promote cultural exchange, and support innovative projects. We provide a range of certified courses for local educators and workshops for international researchers and teachers. The AEDC Artist-in-Residence invites artists to develop a project over a fixed period of time, while engaging with teachers, researchers, AEDC members, and the local creative community. During the stay in Lisbon, the selected artist is required to lead at least one public workshop or an open-studio event.

 Eligibility

We welcome applications from emerging and established visual artists, performing artists, curators, and writers. Our program is designed to accommodate both international and Portuguese artists living abroad who wish to develop their individual or collaborative artistic projects, ideally within educational settings or with a focus on community/participatory practices.

Duration

8 – 12 weeks.

Studio / Workspace

A private room in a shared 3-bedroom flat is provided, along with access to AEDC’s event space which functions as a workspace (upon reservation). While we do not have specialized labs or technical facilities, we are committed to meeting your requirements by providing logistical assistance for the creation of artwork and events through our network of partners and collaborators.

Fees and support

The residency fee includes private accommodation in a flat, access to shared spaces (such as an equipped kitchen, dining and living room), AEDC’s event space and garden (upon reservation), utilities, Wi-Fi, technical assistance, promotional and communication support, as well as a public presentation or publication. Our not-for-profit program is administered by AEDC and primarily supports residents who obtain funding from their home countries. AEDC is pleased to offer artists letters of invitation that can be used to obtain funding for residency expenses.
